Sledging- Matt Prior style
Last weekend was spent sitting in front of the TV watching first test match between Ind and England and what a match it turned out to be. Full of drama which ended just perfect for us. Now India knows its weaknesses and strength and surely going to prepare better when it comes to next test match which is on Friday.
Match was played in a great atmosphere except for inane chatter of Matt Prior and to some extent chatter from Dinesh Karthik. Prior was chatting throughout the match standing behind the wicket and Dinesh did too whenever he got a chance to field near the batsman. As per Guardian
He was sledging the opening batsman Dinesh Karthik, who just happens to double up as India's reserve wicketkeeper. Prior was praising all things Dhoni ("Dhoni wouldn't have played that shot" etc etc) in the hope that constant references might unsettle Karthik. And for a moment on Sunday it appeared to have worked, as Karthik pulled away from one delivery from Monty Panesar to complain to the umpires about Prior's jabberings.
Once Dhoni arrived at the crease,
Now he [Matt Prior]changed his sledging slant. Dhoni was not quite good enough after all. Karthik could take the gloves and away Dhoni could swan, because, as Prior kept telling him, "Yuvraj Singh is batting brilliantly in the nets."
My opinion ? It is brilliant , mental disintegration in Steve Waugh. Dinesh and Dhoni are to be admired for keeping their focus in spite of this and becoming the two highest scorers of Indian II innings.
Some of you might have played Cricket. What is the worst sledging you have heard or that you have applied ? Comments please...
