and that's an understatement. They have played poorly today especially the top order batting who surrendered to an international trundler Dwayne Smith who had taken not more than 40 wickets so far in his career.
India went to the match with SreeSanth replacing Pathan although I think Powar would have been a better option. I am not sure why Powar is not playing regularly anymore. He bowled beautifully against both Pakistan and England even upstaging Bhajji in few cases. Sachin played wonderfully well but got out in an unfortunate way. It happens with him regularly. Why not with Hussey ?
The worse thing about all this. Ganguly backers will be back asking him to be reinstated in the team although he has not done anything during his absence to warrant his presence in the team.

Some would say that India is not doing that bad afterall. They won the only full match they got to play. They have made the highest total of the tournament so far, highest individual score as well. They have restricted both the opponents to their lowest score of the tournament so far.
Sure, we lost 5 quick wkts yesterday, but so did Aussies against WI in their last game. They had another specialist batsman, we didn't. Hence they got that big partnership between Haddin and Hussey.
And in the match against Aussies too...sure we lost some quick wickets...but we had two specialist at the crease..and even in this tournament we've seen how even the last specialist pair can turn things around. Surely one can't think that a 130 or so runs needed in that game were completely beyond the reach of Dhoni, Raina and others to follow? Tough..yes...but impossible?
I agree overall that we haven't *batted* as well as we would like to...but its not terrible for a season starter
Ramesh Powar always gives the impression that he knows what he's doing.
We like him.
